About Levada das 25 Fontes
PR6 follows the Levada das 25 Fontes from the Rabaçal car park on the ER105, first dropping to the Rabaçal forestry shelter and then tracing the channel through UNESCO-listed laurisilva to the Lagoa das 25 Fontes, a shallow pool fed by dozens of trickles of water seeping straight out of the rock face. The walk moves between about 964 and 1,288 metres over roughly three hours each way; the panel lists 4.3 kilometres to the lagoon, which works out to about 8.6 kilometres for the round trip most people end up walking. It shares its opening stretch with PR6.1 to the Risco waterfall, so the first junction is where the two routes split. Spring brings the fullest water after winter rain, and summer is the busiest season, so an early start helps on the narrower stretches near the lagoon.

Full Rabaçal circuit: Alecrim → Lagoa do Vento → 25 Fontes & Risco: One way only: out along the Levada do Alecrim (PR6.2) to Lagoa do Vento, back along the Vereda da Lagoa do Vento (PR6.3) with a detour to Levada das 25 Fontes (PR6) and Levada do Risco (PR6.1) partway, then the paved road or van back to the parking.
